Gurjant Randhawa is a visionary and highly respected professional with extensive background in Cleantech technologies with focus on Hydrogen. Gurjant is registered with Professional Engineers Ontario, a highly respected licensing and regulating body for professional engineering in the province.
Gurjant Randhawa has more than a decade of hands-on experience in hydrogen electrolysers and fuel cells. Mr. Randhawa has led the Cipher Neutron team with his unparallel leadership skills and his in-depth knowledge in hydrogen technologies including but not limited to thin-film deposition, flow through porous media/ gas diffusion layers, material characterization skills and electrochemical diagnostic methods.
Mr. Randhawa has successfully put together a global team of scientists, engineers, technology developers, experts in hydrogen technology, and people that have worked in hydrogen and power generation sector for decades. Previously, he served as the Head of Research and Development for a very successful Toronto Stock Exchange listed company which markets alkaline based electrolysers globally. Mr. Randhawa co-invented new technologies and filed many international patents in the hydrogen space.
Mr. Randhawa also serves as an Advisor for the Hydrogen Technology for a Toronto based private corporation, established to create one of Canada’s leading hubs of Clean Technology public company-related knowledge.
Randhawa holds a master’s in mechanical engineering degree from the University of New Brunswick.
Director
Dr. Pierre Rivard has been a champion of cleaner and renewable energy for three decades, and a passionate supporter and developer of the energy technology industry. He has served as CEO, co-founder, chairman, board member, angel investor, advisor, and philanthropist for several innovative companies in California and Canada, including successful hydrogen fuel cell and electrolyser companies, as well as energy storage, wind, flywheel, electric vehicle, aerospace, waste management, and water treatment enterprises. He has also chaired national and regional industry and research associations. More recently, he served on Canada’s Clean Technology Economic Strategy Table.
Dr. Rivard’s successes include the launch and IPO of NASDAQ-listed hydrogen fuel cell company Hydrogenics Corporation, where, for 12 years, he served as founding President & CEO and later as Executive Chairman. At Hydrogenics, he built an award-winning, high-performance team that was recognized as Canada’s fastest-growing company, which achieved the #1 spot on the Profit 100 list in 2003. Hydrogenics Corporation was later acquired by Cummins Inc. in 2019.
Dr. Rivard is currently the Executive Chairman and Co-Founder of TUGLIQ Energy Corp., a company focused on diversifying energy sources for Northern mining operations using renewable energy. He also serves on the Departmental Audit Committee of, and on Council of, the National Research Council. Additionally, Dr. Rivard dedicated 21 years of service to the Canadian Air Force.
Dr. Rivard holds a Doctor of Engineering degree from the University of Toronto (Honoris Causa, for lifetime achievements in clean technology), an MBA from Western University’s Ivey School of Business, and a Baccalaureate in Mechanical Engineering from Kingston’s Royal Military College of Canada. He is a Professional Engineer licensed in Quebec and Ontario, and formerly in California and Norway.
Director, Chief Scientific Officer
Ranny Dhillon is a result oriented and innovative professional with 8+ years of research and development, prototyping, protype to production experience in hydrogen electrolysers, fuel cells and Membrane electrode preparation techniques. Ranny has thorough understanding of PEMFC, PEM Electrolysers, AEM Electrolysers and their sub components such as MEA, Gas Diffusion Layer, Porous Transport Layer, Flow Fields etc.
Ranny co-invented 3 international patents in switching cell technology, amperage-based analysis of hydrogen gas and Graphene-based hydrogen storage and delivery system.
Ranny has also worked on other renewable energy sources such as solar chimney, pump storage, geothermal and wind energy. Ranny has a very strong background in electromechanical engineering and holds a master’s in engineering degree in Electrical Engineering. Ranny successfully developed and launched numerous automotive grade products.
Scientific Advisory Board
Dr. Bruno Pollet is a member of the Council of Engineers for the Energy Transition (CEET): An Independent Advisory Council to the United Nations’ Secretary-General, and a CEET Hydrogen Task Force leader. He is also member of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) Hydrogen Task Force, the International Energy Agency (IEA) Hydrogen Technology Collaboration Program (TCP) Renewable Hydrogen Task Force and the IEA Technology Collaboration Programme on Advanced Fuel Cells.
Dr. Pollet is also the President of the Green Hydrogen Division of the International Association for Hydrogen Energy (IAHE), member of the Board of Directors of the IAHE, member of the Board of Directors of the Canadian Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Association (CHFCA), member of the Board of Directors of Hydrogène Québec, leader of H2CAN 2.0 (a cluster of hydrogen R&D groups in Canada), and Director of the UQTR Research Hydrogen Institute (HRI- Institut de recherche sur l’hydrogène at the Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières).
He has recently been acting as the Scientific Advisor of TES Canada H2 Inc., one of the largest producers of renewable hydrogen and natural gas in Canada. He also acts as the “Hydrogen Champion” and Scientific Committee member of the Energy Transition Valley (Vallée de la Transition Énergétique – VTÉ). He was awarded two prestigious research chairs: NSERC Tier 1 Canada Research Chair in Green Hydrogen Production, and the Innergex Renewable Energy Research Chair focussing on the next generation of hydrogen production and water electrolysers (electrolysis of water). He was also awarded the “IAHE Sir William Grove Award” in recognition of his leadership and his ground-breaking works in hydrogen, fuel cell and electrolyser technologies IAHE. In 2022, Bruno G. Pollet was invited to witness at the Senate Committee on Energy, the Environment and Natural Resources and the Standing Committee on Environment and Sustainable Development, at the House of Commons in Canada.
Chief Technical Officer
Gurpreet Bhullar is double master’s in mechanical engineering and management studies.
Gurpreet has 8 years+ of work experience enriched with Product Development Techniques (PDT) and practical experience in design controls, risk management, verification, validation and change control, and failure investigation tools and techniques.
His past work experience is a mix of academics and industry that provides him a critical theoretical and practical thinking ability.
Mr. Bhullar has in depth knowledge of PEMFC, PEM Electrolysers, AEM Electrolysers and their subcomponents such as MEA, Gas Diffusion Layer, Porous Transport Layer, Flow Fields etc.
Mr. Bhullar has experience leading the development of the foundation design processes, design system and libraries, and adoption of the design strategy throughout the product lifecycle.
Advisory Board
Dr. Xianguo Li is a Professor of Mechanical and Mechatronics Engineering at the University of Waterloo. His research interests include fuel cells and electrolyzers, liquid fuel atomization and sprays, and green energy systems, as well as the thermal management of power batteries for electric vehicles.
Dr. Li serves as the editor in chief for the International Journal of Green Energy, Field Chief Editor for Frontiers in Thermal Engineering; Vice President, Technical Program, Canadian Society for Mechanical Engineering; President of the Fuel Cell Division, International Association for Hydrogen Energy, and President, International Association for Green Energy (IAGE). He is a fellow of Canadian Academy of Engineering, Engineering Institute of Canada and Canadian Society for Mechanical Engineering.
